About

Wendy Healy

I’m a seasoned communications pro who started my career as a print journalist for several newspapers in New York and Connecticut. I covered everything from the police blotter to the City Council and school board, and eventually found my gift in feature writing. I was an assistant city editor and Sunday editor, managed the features department, was a business editor, and oversaw the layout and design of the paper’s sections. When I tired of working nights, weekends and holidays at daily newspapers, I left the field for a career in public relations, working for a large real estate company on the east coast. In 1990, I launched Griffin Communications, a full-service writing, public relations and communications agency, with two local non-profit clients. When I called my local hospital on a lark to see if they needed any freelance PR help, they said “Yes,” and so began a specialty in healthcare communications. Over the years, I have built a successful business and developed expertise in corporate, healthcare, non-profit and religion communications.

“Thanks for being one of my favorite, most dependable easy-editing writers.”

– Julie Sevig, Associate Editor, The Lutheran Magazine

“Wendy is always responsive, friendly, and knows her stuff. What’s more, she understood the need for compassionate and thorough communications after 9/11 and worked with us to craft a consistent message. I value all that she did for me and for my agency.”

– Mikki Baloy, Executive Director, Lutheran Disaster Response of New York

“Wendy Healy is like the third hand you weren’t given.  She has the ability to come into a new company, with unique content and goals, and literally remove some of the burden of responsibility from the staff team via her thorough and dependable execution of regular writing, media and PR needs.”
